Regarding product delivery, I utilize a Design-Build model. My methodology is adaptive; design specifics are refined throughout the construction process. I employ mockups for effective communication and coordinate closely with trades as well as client preferences to ensure precision. A finish-out specification is provided, which establishes allowance pricing and may be used as is, modified by the client, or guided by a third-party designer.
I work directly with engineers, develop dimensioned plans, and generate 3D framing models and drawings as necessary during each phase of construction. While permit sets typically offer limited detail, I supplement these with custom documentation to support comprehensive management in the field. Unlike the extensive upfront detailing required by the design-bid-build model—commonly preferred for large commercial projects—the design-build approach is particularly advantageous for residential work, allowing for ongoing design iterations and continuous collaboration from initiation through completion.
The strength of the design-build model lies in its integrated processes: planning, design, permitting, and construction are managed under a single contract, minimizing inter-entity handoffs, promoting clearer communication, and eliminating issues of responsibility. We oversee the entire product delivery continuum.

DESIGN-BUILD Addition + Remodel + New Construction. A modern professional mom asked if we could modernize her 1-story Bryker Woods cottage to make it both family friendly and also setup for both indoor and outdoor entertaining. With those marching orders in mind we re-designed and re-constructed the house in a modern farmhouse style. The re-incarnation includes a back yard pool-house, a new in-ground swimming pool, a complete new floorplan downstairs which includes the master suite, open and spacious kitchen, dining and informal living as well as a formal parlor for intimate entertaining. A guest bedroom is included downstairs and a bedroom, bathroom and second informal living area in the 2nd story addition.
There is lots of living opportunity in this centrally located property which respects the property as well as the character of the neighborhood.
DESIGN-BUILD Ground up re-design and rebuild of South Austin residence destroyed by fire. The existing foundation was salvaged and a totally new floorplan was designed. A grand entry foyer with built-in bookcases welcomes guests in a semi-formal manner. The kitchen is equipped with two ovens, both under counter instead of wall mounted to provide more than lots of countertop for the homeowner to enjoy her love of baking.
A traditional gable roof, a shed roof and a dutch gable roof come together to cap off the timber frame style of this porch addition. Structural architecture was the goal. We accomplished that by using 6x6 and 4x6 douglas fir posts, double rafter’s spaced on three foot centers with no ridge beam and a pine ceiling. We still have screening and doors left to install which you can see the start of the screen frames in one of the views. We hope you like the pergola. We do.

This home is a Dripping Springs couples getaway in Corfu, Greece. I worked with them here on this design-only project, redesigning it in the vernacular of the village. It was my first (and only so far) design work in the metric system. After that I am truly a fan of it.

DESIGN-BUILD The homeowner / movie producer asked us to convert his garage into studio space with a loft. We needed to add an entry door and the client specified a sliding glass door to the patio space. In order to do this without changing the existing 7’ - 0” ceiling height we inset the doors enough to accommodate structural headers. This created covered entry ways for each door. The existing roof deck is pine boards which will be repurposed as siding and the existing interior wood paneling will be repurposed as a design motion in the area of the workbench all contributing to the goal of a quality-affordable renovation. The existing stucco exterior will be preserved and complimented with the addition of horizontal lap siding on the east facade and vertical siding on the loft dormer. Bronze aluminum windows will be used to give this old garage a modern update in form and function. Energy features like spray foam insulation, a concealed mini-split HVAC system and gas tankless water heater will facilitate a very low operating cost for many years to come.
